This season, Nonoo references the nostalgic glamour and decadence of iconic destinations along the Italian Riviera. Inspired by the effortless chic of Marella Agnelli & Contessa Crespi, Nonoo offers an unrivaled glimpse into the enchanting attire one would possess for a delightful journey through Italy’s most cinematic coast, bringing to mind the sweeping romanticism and noble characters portrayed in Visconti’s legendary films. Color Inspiration: Red

In a previous blog post, we discovered inspiration from the color blue and the purity and peace it exudes. Color surrounds us and becomes a recurring theme, as we can find beauty and meaning in them all. Among the other high-energy pigments one can expect to see in the Nonoo Spring/Summer 2012 Collection, shades of red capture our hearts.

Sometimes, we were a bit apprehensive to use such a striking color, but red is too powerful to ignore.

A splash of red can quickly turn heads and it is remarkable how much human connection and emotion it can invoke. Naturally, red radiates intense feelings of passion, excitement, love and vivacity. Red is timeless. It can act vibrant and glowing in the midsummer heat, but remain strong in the deep fall.

La Dolce Vita

If a feature film portrayed the Nonoo Spring/Summer 2012 Collection, designer Misha Nonoo said it’s La Dolce Vita, but in color. When Marcello Rubini and Anita Ekberg wade in the beautiful Trevi Fountain among the film’s other iconic and lavish scenes around Rome, we were left in awe. There is no wonder why the film and the rich Italian ethos moves an elite lifestyle driven label.

With Photographer Slim Aaron’s mantra of “Photographing attractive people, doing attractive things in attractive places” in mind, Nonoo takes its new collection to a place truly exemplifying a glamorous culture. The Tuscan Riviera in Italy will act as the setting for the Nonoo Spring/Summer 2012 Collection photo shoot. The Porto Ercole seaside lined with 16^th century fortresses has become one of the most famous resorts in Tuscany. Vintage Festival at Southbank

This year’s Fall/Winter Collection illustrates a breakthrough for Nonoo, not only because it features its first full ready-to-wear line, but also because it invigorates Britain’s rich creative heritage more than ever before. So it only happens naturally that the Vintage Festival taking place in London this weekend amazes us.

The arts, music, and fashion universes will unite this Friday July 29 to Sunday July 31 at the Vintage Festival at Southbank. The festival, serving as the brainchild of Wayne Hemingway, celebrates the music, fashion, film, art, and dance from the 1920’s to the 1980’s, responsible for making Britain a cultural craze.

Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre will be practically unrecognizable, revolutionizing into a true vintage wonderland. Each floor of the hall accentuates a unique theme and over 13 hours of performances and events each day. Guests with the paid passes have access to learning the dances of the decades, authentic makeovers, design workshops, exclusive DJ sets, runway shows, food, and cocktails. Additionally, the hall highlights more than 10 nightclubs where guests can groove to the sounds of 70’s punk, swing, disco, soul and more.

On the outside spaces of the hall, the Vintage Marketplace is a playground and real-life dressing up box. With more than 200 vendors of vintage clothing, accessories, homewares, music memorabilia showcasing their goods, the Vintage Festival serves as a colorful experience for all. No matter your interest, it seems inspiration can be found at any corner. We enjoy summer music festivals and this three-day bonanza is an absolute dream.

Blue

The color blue is associated with purity, honesty, and tranquility. When the color blue is recognized by the human eye, a person can connect the color to certain emotions or feelings such as sorrow, peace/stillness, or energy.

In ancient Egypt the color blue symbolized the Nile and its association with crops, offerings, and fertility. The Egyptian god Amon was often rendered in blue to represent his role in creating the world. In addition, the faces of some pharaohs were occasionally painted blue.

Maya blue is the color of the Mayan rain god and the patron of agriculture. Mayans painted their household items, murals, and sculptures Maya blue. They also painted objects or people blue before the sacrifice ritual to release the spirit. The pigments used to create Maya blue are so durable that it is the only color that reminds on their artifacts today.

Picasso went through a blue period from 1091 to 1094. Shades of blue were visible throughout almost all of his paintings because he was devastated over his friend Casagemas death.

During the Renaissance blue became know as an aristocratic and royal color because blue dyes were rare and expensive. Blue also symbolized political and military force.

The French flag has a bar of blue present to represent caring for the poor after a 4th century Roman solider who cut half of his blue coat off to keep a beggar warm in France.

Blue in the British flags stands for truth, loyalty, and justice
